Established in 1991, our company Masas Group offers undertaking, project, procurement, and turnkey implementation services for industrial cold storages and atmosphere controlled cold storage systems locally and at abroad. As Turkish companies, we stand out globally with structural characteristics allowing the product service packages to be prepared optimally in line with customer requirements and advancing technologies in the cooling sector as many other sectors. Turkish companies design and implement the most efficient cold storage system projects in various geographies and various climates worldwide. Thus, highest level of customer satisfaction is achieved, and Turkey’s position in the world market is even more secured. We would like to thank you for featuring the place of Turkey in the cooling sector, and drawing attention to the sustainable food supply issue in Turkey and world in your magazine’s current issue. Based on the fact that world population will reach approximately 9 billion in 2050; utilizing scarce and limited food resources in the most effective way, and proper storage of perishable foods and delivery to the markets and population through logistics channels in particular have become a necessity. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) research, 40% of the global food production is lost or wasted annually. In consideration of these figures, the need for safe food supply from local supply points to logistics network, distribution centers, and end-user points, and building cold storages for efficient distribution will increasingly continue in order to meet the food demand of the increasing world population. Turkey not only specializes in production of required goods such as machinery, equipment and wallceiling sandwich panels meeting such increasingly continuing needs of the world markets, but also distinguishes itself positively with its qualification in “turnkey engineering and contracting” which is the service package form of offering such products. For instance, the production of high quality, high energy saving, fire-resistant and certified sandwich panels required by the cooling sector is carried out in line with global standards, and offered to the disposal of the cooling sector. Turkish cooling sector is at the service of all regions of the world by adding engineering and contracting capabilities to its power in production and procurement of machinery, equipment, sandwich panel, and other auxiliary materials. Political uncertainties in countries such as Syria, Libya, and Egypt, in which we had regional efficiency for many years, moreover, devaluations in Russia and Azerbaijan where we had intensive operations, not only had a negative impact on the sector, but also caused the sector to seek alternative markets and turn towards Africa and Gulf countries with experience and knowledge. Turkish contracting companies became one of the largest global players, especially at abroad. These companies prefer to work with Turkish suppliers for their overseas operations. Moreover, collaborations with the cooling sector are typically built on personal relations. It is observed lately that large Turkish contracting companies are inclined to cooling sector products which dominate the geographies they reach. The communication level which currently exists between the Turkish construction-contracting sector, which became one of the world’s leading players in terms of business volume, and the cooling sector must be increased even more. Co-operations must be developed with “Turkish Contractors Association” in this context. Service networks to be formed by the companies from the cooling sector in the countries where Turkish contractors operate in will provide a sound basis for cooperation. Turkish cooling sector must take a leap forward globally by making use of the current advantages. Globally recognized and accepted brands must be created in order to penetrate the foreign markets, and participate in international tenders and qualified projects with high profit margins with our own brands. There are preferred ways of becoming a trademark holder. The first one is companies investing in their own brands and becoming a global brand. And the second one is Turkish companies acquiring a globally recognized brand. This approach will enable the Turkish companies to become a global trademark holder quickly. Regardless of the preferred method, a sector that adds value to Turkey will emerge as a result.
